LACT Sampling

Unveiling the Essence and Expertise of FluiMix™

LACT Sampling

Optimal Solution for Crude Oil Sales

The Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) unit is the most efficient and reliable method for selling crude oil in lease gathering operations. A representative sample of the oil is taken during the transfer process. This sample is used for quality analysis, ensuring that the oil meets the specified standards and contractual requirements. Automated sampling systems ensure consistent and accurate sampling. Sampling must be conducted according to API 8.2 and API 8.3.

Key Components

The LACT unit sampling system includes essential components to ensure accurate and reliable sampling. These components work together to maintain sample integrity and deliver precise measurements during custody transfer.

Sample Probe

Positioned horizontally and extending to the pipe center in a vertical riser, the sample probe ensures samples are taken from a representative location.

Sample Container

Specifically designed to prevent vaporization, the sample container maintains the integrity of the stored sample.

Circulating Pump

Ensures that the sample remains fully blended into a homogenous mixture before and during withdrawal, providing accurate data.

Sampling Requirements

Sample Size and Frequency

Typically, a sample size of 10 liters is collected over a 24-hour period at the maximum pipeline flow rate and sampling frequency or for a specified batch at a defined flow rate and frequency. The sample volume depends on laboratory analyses requirements and includes a surplus for retention in case of disputes.

Performance Monitoring

System Performance

Throughout the batch, sampling system performance should be closely monitored and reported to ensure optimal accuracy and reliability.
